Mike Cerre

A passionate storyteller with an insatiable curiosity for how the rest of the world lives, works, learns and plays.

 

The combination has afforded him a lifetime of discoveries and a distinguished career as an Emmy award winning network news correspondent, documentary producer and communications consultant.  

He credits Charles Kurault’s On the Road series, Studs Terkel’s insightful oral histories for WORKING and George Plimpton’s experiential reporting for Paper Lion as his storytelling inspiration. 


Starting as a sports reporter and news anchor for the NBC station in San Francisco and a contributing correspondent for NBC TODAY, he went on to produce and report his cross-country Working Journal series for ABC-Good Morning America and co-hosted PM Magazine in New York, along with documentaries for HBO and Showtime.

He was a foreign correspondent for ABC News Nightline, where he earned an Emmy Award for his embedded reporting in Iraq, and currently is a Special Correspondent for the PBS NewsHour.

GLOBE Tv, his San Francisco based global production and communications company, started in 1986 when he licensed the TV rights to the GEO magazines in Europe and the U.S. from

Gruner+Jahr in Germany to produce the first global television magazine, which aired on the NBC stations and The Discovery ChannelGEO evolved into the GLOBE TV series co-produced with ABC International, TF-1 France and Reteitalia-Italy networks and aired on A&E and twenty foreign and inflight networks. 

He earned a B.A. degree in Communications Arts from the University of Notre Dame and a Social Media Studies certificate at Stanford University.  Prior to his communications career, he served as a U.S. Marine officer in Vietnam.

He and his wife, Gina, live in Sausalito, CA on San Francisco Bay, where they raised two daughters.
